Kaohsiung mayoral election: Tsai Ing-wen, Lai Ching-te, local systems unite to support Lai Ruilong

With 90 days left before the 2026 Kaohsiung mayoral election, the Kaohsiung Trusted Friends Association held a membership meeting tonight, chaired by President Zhuang Weizhou. Huang Laijin, president of the Kaohsiung Xiaoying Friends Association, also appeared; the former and current president’s Kaohsiung supporters presidents joined Lai Ruilong’s campaign system to hold key positions. Tsai Ing-wen and Lai Qingde’s local systems united to support Lai Ruilong.

Participants pointed out that Zhuang Weizhou is a national policy adviser and the honorary chairman of the Kaohsiung County Medical Association, and is deeply respected by the medical community. Earlier today, Lai Ruilong held the "Medical Nursing Alliance Support Association and Medical Association Support Association Certification Conference" and officially announced that Zhuang Weizhou will take over as the president of the support association. Due to his extremely high seniority and countless medical services over the years, it has attracted local attention.

It is worth noting that Huang Laijin, president of the Friends of Xiaoying Association, also appeared at the Friends of Reliance meeting in the evening. Huang Laijin took over as the president of Lai Ruilong’s Rotary Support Association in June this year, and continued to connect various industries and associations, becoming an important pillar of Lai Ruilong’s auxiliary election.

According to participants at the meeting, the two people have officially issued a call to fully mobilize and further expand Lai Ruilong's support base. The person pointed out that Xiaoying and the leaders of the Friends of Trust have shown a common will to support Lai Ruilong. In particular, both parties have the ability to transcend the basic base of Green Camp and extend to the corporate world and society, which can allow Lai Ruilong's team to sprint harder.

The election campaign has entered the final critical period. Not only did Lai Qingde and Tsai Ing-wen personally go south to assist in the election, but Chen Qimai and various regional legislators also took up their posts, which will inevitably create pressure on Ke Zhien of the Kuomintang.
