The Kuomintang League requires that more than half of domestic drones be purchased and manufactured to build a second sacred mountain to protect the country.

The Executive Yuan announced today that it has counter-signed the KMT version of the "Ordinance on Strengthening National Defense Independence and Development of the Unmanned Vehicle Industry" and emphasized "two insistences" on adhering to the Executive Yuan's budget power and safeguarding state secrets. In this regard, the Kuomintang group stated that the Executive Yuan's deputy signing of the Legislative Yuan's third reading of the bill was only fulfilling its obligations under the Constitution, emphasizing that it would support regular arms purchases in the future, strictly review cases of commercial sales fraud, and require more than half of domestic drone purchases to be self-produced. It called on the DPP government to show determination and build a new sacred mountain to protect the country.

Regarding the Executive Yuan's counter-signing of the "Regulations on Strengthening National Defense Independence and Development of the Unmanned Vehicle Industry", the Kuomintang League stated today (11) that according to the Constitution of the Republic of China, counter-signing the bill is the constitutional obligation of the Executive Yuan, rather than a "buffet-style" political prerogative. Facing the trend of modern warfare toward "asymmetric warfare," the Kuomintang League insists on national defense independence, leans the development of local industries, and supports necessary military procurement from the United States. It strongly demands that Taiwan's drone industry must become the second sacred mountain that protects the country, rather than becoming a dumping ground for the world's drones.

The Kuomintang League stated that it is clear from the recent three major battles between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Palestine, and the United States and Iran that modern defense strategies have fully shifted to centering on drones. However, the DPP government has been riddled with abuses in the execution of outsourced drones: not only did there appear the absurd test result of "three crashed out of five test flights", but it also emerged that the government planned to purchase drones with a unit price of more than 500,000 US dollars (approximately 10 million NT dollars), but they are drones that are not used in the world. Even the UAVs that are not used by Ukraine and the US military are purchased by the Ministry of National Defense at a high price. Recently, it has been reported that the purchase of military drones from the United States only resulted in the outrageous situation of having chargers a year later. These shortcomings will definitely be the targets and objects of strong supervision by the Kuomintang group in the Legislative Yuan in the future.

The Kuomintang group advocates that in the future, it will provide full support for regular arms purchases from the United States to ensure that the defense force is not damaged and defend against any political slander that attempts to discredit the opposition party and block the budget; at the same time, it will strictly review cases of commercial sales fraud and refuse to accept international obsolete products. Finally, for domestic drone procurement, local manufacturers must make more than 50% of their equipment in-house to build the second sacred mountain for national protection.
