The feasibility study of the Taichung MRT Orange Line (Airport MRT) has been approved by the Executive Yuan and will enter the comprehensive planning stage

All routes in China and the Czech Republic are under planning. The feasibility study of the MRT Airport Line (Orange Line), which is considered to be the fourth one and will be started first, was approved by the Executive Yuan on August 18. In order to speed up the Orange Line, the Czech Industrial Bureau conducted a comprehensive planning bidding process while the Executive Yuan was conducting the feasibility study. After the Executive Yuan approved it, the bidding was closed and the selection will be conducted this week. Once the selection is completed, the comprehensive planning stage can be entered.

The MRT Airport Orange Line is a very important route for Taichung City, because like the Taobao Express, it is an important MRT route that allows Chinese and international tourists to enter Taichung City.

Since the feasibility study of the Orange Line has been approved and forwarded to the Executive Yuan for review on July 4, 2025, it can enter the comprehensive plan as long as it is approved by the Executive Yuan. Therefore, while the Executive Yuan is reviewing it, the National Construction Bureau will conduct a tender for the comprehensive planning report and will conduct environmental impact assessments and changes to the urban plan.

The Executive Yuan has approved the Orange Line on August 18. At the same time, the bidding for the Orange Line comprehensive planning report has also closed. The National Construction Bureau will conduct a selection this week. Once the selection process is completed, the Orange Line will enter the comprehensive planning stage, and the progress will take another step forward.

The planned starting point of the Airport MRT (Orange Line) is at Taichung International Airport, passing through Daya City, Shuinan Economic and Trade Park, No. 1 Middle School Business District, Taichung Station, National Chung Hsing University, Taichung Software Park and other places, and ending at Wufeng Legislative Yuan Democracy Park. The total cost is 160.223 billion yuan. The total route length is 29.23 kilometers. It is planned to have 15 elevated stations and 11 underground stations, with a total of 26 stations.
