Incorrect journal entry led to LVU - now the son has to move home

Malin's son "Leo" was forcibly placed by social services with a so-called LVU in the home of his biological father, and was only allowed to see his mother a few hours a week. Social services' goal was not to reunite the family, they wrote, because they believed that Malin had diagnoses that meant she would not be able to care for her child.

But the information was incorrect. Mission review revealed that the journal they read out had missed a "not". Malin does not have any intellectual disability.

Incorrect information removed

After SVT's publication, the social workers who worked on the case were replaced. In a new investigation that was started in March, the goal was to reunite Malin with her son. Both family therapists and social workers have made frequent home visits and Malin is also described by the preschool and the father as a loving and committed parent with "very good parenting skills".

In the new investigation, all previous incorrect information about Malin's alleged diagnoses has been removed. Instead, it only states that the care would have been due to her poor mental condition, but that "the risks that existed" do not remain and that the LVU should be lifted because it is judged to be best for the child.

External investigations are expected

After Uppdrag granskning's and Sveriges Radio's revelations that more children were taken into care in Örebro following incorrect information from the care, external reviews have been started. The investigation dealing with the case with Malin's son "Leo" is not yet complete, nor is the external file review of the case with eight-year-old "Elsa" which was ordered by the committee's politicians after the scandals broke.

During these two years, Malin has had another child, and the association with "Leo" has increased during the summer. She and the father are now planning to take turns living.

- It's just joy, of course. I don't know if I believe it yet. I just don't understand why it took so long, these years are so important for a small child, says Malin.

SVT has contacted the head of the social service's unit Patrik Jonsson, who does not want to comment, citing the ongoing investigation into the case.
