Felipe and Rodrigo prepare a 100% original DVD with no special appearances

Known not only for the songs they sing, but also for hits they wrote for other artists, Felipe and Rodrigo decided to go against a trend that has gained ground in country music in recent years: re-recordings.

The duo is preparing the recording of the DVD “No Sentimento”, considered the biggest of their career, for September 26th. The place chosen to be the stage was Brasília (DF). The work will feature exclusively their songs.

"We are very critical of re-recordings, because we are two composers, we make a living from composing, we focus on the original, on the new. So, if we are going to make a mistake, let us make a mistake with something new, and not make a mistake with someone's re-recording, messing with someone's history from the past", said Felipe.

Among the successful compositions are “Arranhão”, recorded by Henrique & Juliano, “Gosta de Rua” and “Ignora”, a success with the duo's own voice, and “Erro Gostoso”, which became one of the main hits of Simone Mendes' solo career.

For the duo, the commitment of the 100% original project also involves the possibility of creating songs that, in the future, may receive new versions by other artists.

"We're going to change ours here, we're going to make new music. [...] Our idea is to make some of our songs here. If someone wants to record up front, that's fine", said Felipe.

Special appearances on country DVDs, something common in this universe, are also outside the duo's new project.

According to them, the latest works have already been constructed in this way, and the intention is to maintain the duo's identity.

"Only original music, there won't be any participation. It's something that we've been working on in our projects. There are already two, three projects behind that are coming only from us, without participation. So, we want to keep it that way", said Rodrigo.

This does not mean, however, that they have ruled out sharing a recording with other country names in the future. Rodrigo revealed that there are artists the duo would like to work with, but stated that he prefers to wait for the right moment.

Among the names mentioned are Jorge and Mateus, Matheus and Kauan, Henrique and Juliano and Daniel.

"We really want to record with three duos and a solo [...] because of the history we have with them. But that moment hasn't come yet. So let's wait for the right moment to happen. This DVD is just us."

During the interview, Felipe and Rodrigo also commented on the dispute for space between musical genres on digital platforms.

A ranking released in July by Pró-Música, an entity that represents the main record labels and music producers in the country, helps to size up the scenario. Among the 50 most played songs in Brazil in the first half of 2026, only two country songs appear in the top ten positions: "Eu Te Seguro", by Panda, and "Tubarões", by Diego & Victor Hugo.

The rest of the top 10 is mainly made up of funk and pagode songs.

For Felipe, the numbers recorded on the internet are not enough to measure the strength of the countryman.

The singer used the Festa do Peão de Barretos itself as an example of the genre's ability to move large audiences across the country.

"The country market is incredible, the country market is very big. Every weekend is a party for everyone, it's a lot," he said.

Felipe also raised suspicions about the existence of manipulation of numbers on digital platforms. He emphasized that he does not question the popularity of funk songs, but argued that the presence of an audience at major events is another parameter to assess the strength of a musical genre.

"What happens here is different, this energy is different. So, when funk manages to get that many people in the stadium here and make them sing the way it does, then I take my hat off", he said.
