The Egyptian Federation is following up on FIFA's disciplinary procedures against Hossam, Ibrahim Hassan, and Mostafa Zico

(CNN) - The Egyptian Football Association confirmed that it is following up on the disciplinary measures initiated by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) against the first team coach, Hossam Hassan, the national team manager, Ibrahim Hassan, and the national team player, Mustafa Zico, as a result of the statements they made after the match between Egypt and Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, according to a statement issued Thursday.

The statement said: “The Federation affirms its respect for FIFA’s regulations and procedures. The necessary responses and legal memorandums will be submitted within the specified dates, while confirming the support and assistance of those concerned with the procedures and defending the rights of Egyptian football, through official channels.”

The Egyptian Federation concluded its statement by saying: “The Federation also stresses its respect for the principles of fair play and the organizing bodies, while reserving its full right to defend the interests of the technical staff and players before the competent authorities in FIFA.”

Hossam, Ibrahim, Hassan and Zico had criticized the performance of French referee François Letexier in the match between Egypt and Argentina in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, which ended with Argentina winning by three goals to two.
