Daughter stabs 91-year-old father to death in Percoto retirement home

She went to visit her 91-year-old father in the retirement home in Percoto, a district of Pavia di Udine, but instead of looking after him, she stabbed him to death. Then she left the structure and showed up at the police station, still with the knife in her hand, telling what had happened. The woman, Marzia Fedele, is 61 years old. It is the reconstruction of the murder of his father, Giuliano, resident in Manzano but for many years domiciled in the hospice.

A case on which the Carabinieri of the Palmanova Company are working, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Udine. The crime occurred in the late morning, during the usual visiting hours of relatives, when father and daughter were alone in the elderly man's hospital room, which was rather secluded. No operator of the facility would have witnessed the scene or noticed what was happening. The discovery of the body occurred later, when the woman presented herself to the military to turn herself in and the carabinieri reached the retirement home with several patrols, to verify the veracity of the story. Then, forensics carried out the findings. Video surveillance images were also acquired and the operators of the facility were interviewed.

Marzia, resident in Manzano, employed part time in a company in the area, had been under treatment at the Mental Health Center since 2019. After the crime she appeared in shock and her reconstruction of the facts, according to what emerges, presents contradictory elements which will have to be verified by the investigators. The motive is not yet clear at the moment. Among the hypotheses under consideration there are also possible economic problems, but the statements provided by the self-confessed murderer are inconsistent. The father had been suffering from senile dementia for some time, although he still retained flashes of lucidity. Just in recent days, according to what the Carabinieri are reconstructing, based on what was reported by the RSA staff, there would have been an altercation between the elderly man and his daughter. An element that could help clarify the genesis of the attack.

Both of the woman's parents were guests of the same facility, but in different rooms. The mother did not witness the murder and, apparently, has not yet been told what happened. Furthermore, none of the other family members would have had any inkling of what was developing or suspected that Marzia could make such a gesture. The family is completed with a sister. In the afternoon Marzia's husband showed up at the police station to deliver his wife's personal effects. The woman was taken into custody by the military and her position is now being examined by the judicial authorities. It will be the medico-legal investigations, the findings at the scene - the room is seized - and the testimonies that will allow us to reconstruct the phases of the murder and clarify the motive.
