The body of Elmas Demir, who disappeared in the Filo Jet ship accident, was brought to Eskişehir

The body of Elmas Demir, the mother of 5 children, who was lost in the accident where the ship named "Fleet Jet" capsized on August 30, anchoring from Kyrenia Port of TRNC to Taşucu Port in Mersin's Silifke district, was found as a result of the search and rescue efforts carried out in the region.

The funeral of Demir, who was brought to Ankara and then to his hometown Eskişehir by land, was welcomed by his relatives at the Ilahiyat Mosque in Fevziçakmak District of Tepebaşı district.

Demir's wife and son received the body.

Abbas Demir, the husband of the woman whose body was brought, told reporters that they would file a complaint against the ship captain and other responsible parties and seek their legal rights.

Noting that he met his wife around 11.30 before the accident, Demir said, "He told me that he had boarded the ship. I called at 12.30, but I could not get any news. It is a phone that is in the middle of the sea. Finally, my nephew came. I was in the market, he said, 'Uncle, the ship sank', I heard from him." he said.

Cemal Demir stated that they received his mother's body and that they will perform their last duties.

Explaining that they will decorate his mother's grave with roses, Demir said:

"They gave us happiness. We made our voices heard, and they responded to our voices. From here, I would like to thank our President very much. You gave us this happy day. It is a painful day, but it is the same as our happy day now. At least I will hug my mother's land. I did not receive her alive, but her dead. I told her, 'I don't want her alive, but give her her dead'. I thank you very much, they brought my mother to me. Now she has a land to embrace."

Elmas Demir's body will be buried in Asri Cemetery after the noon prayer at the Ilahiyat Mosque.

The ship sank off the coast of Kyrenia

The high-speed passenger ship named "Fleet Jet", which was operating between Kyrenia Port in TRNC and Taşucu Port in Mersin, started to take in water from its front part shortly after departing from Kyrenia at noon on Sunday, August 30, and sank while trying to return to Kyrenia Port.

TRNC announced that the bodies of 12 people were found after the ship sank and that the search for the 16 missing people was continuing.

It is reported that the wreckage of the sunken ship was found at a depth of 554 meters off the coast of Kyrenia.
