Five people jailed for kidnapping and false imprisonment after victim escapes by jumping from window

Five people have been jailed after a man jumped from a first-floor window to escape kidnappers.

The victim was lured to a property in Market Rasen in July 2025 because of "personal matters linked to a past relationship breakdown", Lincolnshire Police said.

The force said he was "repeatedly assaulted, threatened, humiliated and tormented by his captors, while those involved filmed the abuse on their mobile phones and laughed as it unfolded".

After being held overnight he was driven to a house in Lincoln, where he was caught on CCTV leaping into a tree and climbing down before running into the street and flagging down a passing police car.

Armed police intercepted two of the kidnappers in a car, and the others were arrested at the house in Market Rasen.

The gang were jailed at Lincoln Crown Court on 28 August.

Brad'Lee Ranyard, 20, of Portland Street, Lincoln, was jailed for nine years after being convicted of kidnap and pleading guilty to false imprisonment.

Jackson Nicholson, 25, of Lindsey Drive, Gainsborough, was also jailed for nine years after being convicted of kidnap and pleading guilty to false imprisonment and possessing a bladed object in public.

Craig Ranyard, 42, of Barsey Walk, Horncastle, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to false imprisonment

Danielle Thompson, 38, of Lime Walk, Market Rasen, was given four years and nine months after pleading guilty to false imprisonment.

Nathan Gladwell, 36, of Union Street, Market Rasen, was sent to prison for three years and seven months after pleading guilty to false imprisonment.

Det Con Liam Henderson said: "This was a sustained and deeply distressing ordeal in which a man was subjected to violence, threats and humiliation at the hands of people who appeared to find amusement in his suffering.

"The victim showed remarkable courage in seizing the opportunity to escape. The CCTV footage captures a desperate moment in which he quite literally risked everything to get away from those holding him captive."
