Us Open 2026: Paolini eliminated in the third round, other Italians in the field in the doubles

The 2026 US Open continues in New York, the last Slam of the tennis season. On the hard courts of Flushing Meadows, the third round of the men's and women's singles tournaments began today, September 4th, and the first round of the doubles tournaments continues. Several Italian tennis players on the court: Jasmine Paolini was eliminated, then it was the turn of the pair Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori, Sara Errani paired with the Austrian Lilli Tagger, and Matteo Arnaldi paired with the German Jan-Lennard Struff. The Italians' matches on September 4th

Today Italy's eyes were focused above all on Jasmine Paolini, n.21 in the ranking, returning after two months of absence due to a foot injury. After beating Lucrezia Stefanini in the Italian derby which took place in the second round, she faced the Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the third round. The only Italian still left in the women's singles draw lost in two sets, with a score of 6-3, 6-3 (THE STORY ON SKY SPORT). The other Italians on the field today are involved in the first round of the doubles. On Court 12, not before 8.30 pm, debut in the men's doubles of the pair Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori: they face the two Frenchmen Quentin Halys and Pierre-Hugues Herbert. On the same court, Sara Errani debuts in the women's doubles together with the Austrian Lilli Tagger: they play against the Americans Annika and Kristina Penickova. Finally, in the late afternoon on Court 7, another men's doubles challenge: Matteo Arnaldi and the German Jan-Lennard Struff face the pair formed by Romain Arneodo and Adrian Mannarino.
