Flycams flying illegally near Noi Bai airport were discovered

Hanoi Police detected a drone flying at an altitude of 92 meters in the Quang Minh Industrial Zone, approximately 4.5 km from Noi Bai International Airport.

The incident was detected by the Border Guard Police of Noi Bai International Airport at 8:30 a.m. on August 30 through the surveillance system. They deployed forces and coordinated with the Quang Minh Commune Police to verify the situation and take preventive measures.

Authorities identified the operator of the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone as a 27-year-old man. He was flying the drone to inspect and monitor the construction progress of factory buildings in the Quang Minh Industrial Zone.

The police have opened a case file, temporarily seized the evidence, and handed over the case to the Quang Minh Commune Police for further processing.

Recently, the Border Guard Police of Noi Bai International Airport have collaborated with specialized units and police forces in Phu Tho and Bac Ninh provinces to deploy a 360-degree UAV/Drone/Flycam surveillance system. The system can detect targets within a 10-kilometer radius and operates continuously day and night to proactively prevent risks that could affect the security and safety of civil aviation operations at Noi Bai.

"Even a small drone, when operated illegally in no-fly or restricted zones, can directly impact aviation security and safety, threatening the safety of flights and thousands of passengers. Violators will be held accountable under the law," the police warned.

The police also advised the public to fully understand the regulations and complete all necessary procedures and permits. People must absolutely not operate UAVs/drones/flycams in no-fly or restricted zones without authorization.

Many airports have recently been affected by flying objects appearing near operational areas. In June 2025, an unmanned aerial vehicle appeared near Noi Bai, causing 16 flights to depart late.

Similarly, at Tan Son Nhat Airport on November 8, 2025, a UAV intruded into the restricted zone twice, causing more than 100 flights to be delayed or have their departure times changed, affecting over 10,000 passengers. The Ho Chi Minh City Police have prosecuted several individuals for the crime of obstructing air traffic under Clause 2, Article 278 of the Penal Code.
