Graduated in Communication from Faculdade de Santos in 1972, Carlos Américo Aguiar Monforte worked for the newspapers A Tribuna and Estado de São Paulo before joining Globo in 1978 as a local reporter. He covered strikes at ABC Paulista, became political editor of Jornal da Globo in 1982, presented Bom Dia São Paulo and, in 1983, took over as editor-in-chief and presenter of Bom Dia Brasil, a position he held for nine years.
