Formula 1: Isack Hadjar extends his contract with Red Bull until 2027

The contract of French driver Isack Hadjar has been extended for the 2027 season, where he will again play alongside Dutchman Max Verstappen, his Red Bull team announced on Wednesday September 23, on the sidelines of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend in Baku. The Austrian team “is pleased to announce the extension of Isack Hadjar’s contract, thus completing its driver duo for the 2027 Formula 1 season,” it said in a press release.

The young French driver had a solid start to the season in his first year with Red Bull, but his progress was disrupted by a wrist injury which forced him to miss the last three Grands Prix. He is due to make his return to the wheel this weekend in Baku. “I am really delighted to continue the adventure with Oracle Red Bull Racing. I joined this team eight months ago and I immediately understood the scale and ambition of this organization,” reacted Isack Hadjar, quoted in the team’s press release. “I constantly seek to listen, learn and surpass myself every day, which only strengthens my enthusiasm for what awaits me.”

An extension as “obvious”

Laurent Mekies, the boss of the Red Bull team, was delighted with this extension. “We are delighted to continue our adventure alongside Isack. Since he joined us at the start of the year, he has been exceptional both on and off the track, especially since he is only in his second season in Formula 1. The decision to extend his contract was therefore obvious,” explained the French engineer.

“The period following his injury was difficult for Isack, but this extension demonstrates the confidence we have in him and we look forward to seeing him again on the track,” continued Laurent Mekies. Isack Hadjar, who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Monday, occupies 8th place in the world championship rankings with 71 points. He notably got on the podium at the Monaco Grand Prix (3rd) and remained on a series of seven consecutive Top 6 finishes before his injury.
