Protest Against Poor Education Conditions by High School Students in France

Students of Lycée Paul-Éluard High School, located in the Seine-Saint-Denis region in the north of Paris, the capital of France, blocked the school entrance with barricades to protest poor educational conditions, lack of teachers and physical inadequacies in school buildings.

In the protest organized within the scope of the escalating student actions in the Ile-de-France region and cities across the country, young people gathered in front of the school gates, boycotted classes and set garbage bins on fire.

The students of the high school have been continuing their protests since Friday and have blocked the entrance of their school to protest the learning conditions.

Due to the dilapidated state of buildings and equipment, overcrowded classrooms, and lack of replacement for absent teachers, high school students who feel abandoned by the institution appeal to politicians, "Our future is in your hands!" he shouted.

PROTESTS CONTINUE ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Some of the banners carried by the crowd read "Education is a right, not a privilege" and "Children of Seine-Saint-Denis, we have the same rights."

The protest by high school students started in Val-de-Marne at the beginning of last week. Gradually it spread to Saint-Ouen, Sarcelles, Stains, Gonesse, Rosny-sous-Bois and La Courneuve.

Since last week, other high school students across France have blockaded their schools with the same demands. Teachers are also on the streets with students to "support them in a legitimate struggle."
