French firefighters' unions met with Laurent Nunez about the draft law

Representatives of firefighters' unions discussed the new draft law on the working conditions of firefighters in the capital Paris with French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez.

After the meeting, the spokesperson of the unions, Xavier Boy, stated in his statement to the press that they were disappointed with the bill.

Stating that the bill in question ignores many fundamental issues, Boy noted that they can no longer combat the risks facing France.

Firefighters will hold a demonstration in the capital Paris on September 29.

With the call of firefighter unions, firefighters across the country started a 6-week strike demanding more opportunities and personnel.

In França, where extreme heat was effective, 117 thousand hectares of land were damaged due to forest fires this year.

4 of the firefighters who responded to the fires died and more than 230 firefighters were injured.

According to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there are approximately 256 thousand firefighters in France. While 17 percent of the firefighters in question do this profession professionally, 5 percent are soldiers.
