Traveling Cinema project reached all 81 provinces

Traveling Cinema for Children, which was launched in 2018 by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to introduce cinema to children who do not have access to the big screen, has left behind an important milestone in its eight-year journey. The project, which traveled across Türkiye city by city, district by district, reached all 81 provinces and brought together more than one and a half million children in 681 districts to date with the excitement of cinema.

Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Hit the Road for Art Culture and Art Association and Türk Telekom, specially designed cinema trucks reach districts, towns and villages that do not have cinema halls. The project, which screens free movies for children, contributes to expanding access to culture and art.

ERSOY: "WE ARE NOW IN ALL 81 PROVINCES OF Türkiye"

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy also announced the point the project has reached with a post on his social media account.

Ersoy said, "We are now in all 81 provinces of Türkiye with the Traveling Cinema for Children, which we started in 2018 to introduce our children to cinema. We have reached 681 districts in eight years, and introduced more than one and a half million children to the excitement of the big screen." he said. Pointing out the importance of the journey that extends to districts, towns and villages that do not have movie theaters, Minister Ersoy stated that they sometimes help children watch a movie on the big screen for the first time and become acquainted with the world of cinema.

CAPACITY HAS DOUBLED WITH INTENSIVE INTEREST

Following the intense interest shown in the project, Gezen Cinema's access capacity was increased in 2025. With the support of Türk Telekom, the number of cinema trucks was increased to two and the screening schedule was also expanded. Thus, it was possible to reach more districts and towns.

Minister Ersoy emphasized that the project will continue to grow and said, "We will continue to bring culture and art to our children and open the curtain to new dreams all over Türkiye." he said. Ersoy also thanked the General Directorate of Cinema, the Road for Art Culture and Art Association and Türk Telekom for contributing to the project.

GEZEN CINEMA REACHES AUDIENCES OF ALL AGES

In addition to screenings for children, Gezen Cinema brings together movie lovers of all ages with open-air screenings held in town and village squares, especially during the summer months.

Within the scope of the project's social responsibility activities, film screenings are also held in penal institutions, hospitals and social service organizations serving the elderly. In some screenings, artists also meet with the audience.

The General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism continues to increase children's access to quality cultural and artistic activities with Gezen Cinema, to popularize cinema culture and to contribute to the raising of new audience generations in every corner of Türkiye.
