Giorgetti: energy security expenditure pillar of national security

Energy security spending "will be part of the fiscal consolidation path without altering it" and will be a "pillar of national security". The Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, stated this in a video message during a conference on nuclear power at Palazzo Lombardia, in Milan.

"The government - he recalls - has presented the request to activate the flexibility clause to the European Commission. This is a gap in European economic governance that Italy has opened by showing its credibility. It will be about investments, but still additional spending and for this reason we will carefully look at every euro spent".

The minister specifies that the interventions "will range across various areas: family, businesses, public sector, mobility, production, storage and transmission. They must aim to guarantee not only our energy but also technological sovereignty and reduce foreign dependence".
