Search and rescue efforts continue in the Kyrenia-Taşucu ferry accident

The search for the missing passengers in the ferry accident, which capsized and sank while moving from Kyrenia city of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to Mersin's Taşucu Port, continues.

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that the lifeless body of another person was found.

Stating that the lifeless body belonged to a man aged 55-60, Üstel announced that the death toll increased to 14. Üstel stated that identification efforts have begun.

The search for the 14 missing people continues.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Search and rescue efforts to find those missing on the passenger ferry named Filo Jet, which capsized and sank on August 31 while sailing from Kyrenia to Taşucu Port in Mersin, continue on the seventh day. Within the scope of the studies, TCG Işın and TCG Alemdar ships are conducting underwater inspections.

The accident was recorded as one of the biggest maritime accidents in the history of TRNC.
