Also as part of the agreement, the club recognizes a debt of around R$23 million relating to the previous period of use of the property, expected to be paid in 120 months.
With an area of approximately 39 thousand square meters, the Rei Pelé Training Center, owned by the Union, is currently valued at R$79.76 million, including improvements carried out by the club.
According to Secom, at current values, without considering monetary restatement, the assignment represents around R$34.84 million in consideration over the first 20 years, in addition to R$23 million relating to past liabilities.
“The solution constructed by the Federal Attorney General's Office, through the Federal Administration's Mediation and Conciliation Chamber, and by the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services ends a controversy related to the occupation of the property, the improvements made and the possibility of selling the land”, explains the ministry.
Also according to Secom, the agreement maintains ownership of the asset with the Union and establishes remuneration for future use, in addition to the recovery of amounts relating to the previous period.
“The measure also preserves the possibility for the Union to reassess in the future the convenience of selling the property, if there is no longer any public, economic or social interest in its maintenance”, says Secom.
In addition to asset regularization, Santos Futebol Clube assumes obligations related to the conservation of the property and compliance with administrative, tax, environmental, urban planning and heritage requirements.
"The Union's Heritage Secretariat maintains monitoring and inspection of the use of the property. Regularization transforms an occupation that had been going on for decades into a formal relationship of onerous transfer, with revenue for the Union, recovery of past values, preservation of public property and continuity of a structure focused on sports training", concluded Secom.
