ChatGPT domestic app users exceed 18 million for the first time... Double the usage time

The number of monthly users of ChatGPT's domestic mobile app exceeded 18 million for the first time.

The total usage time has more than doubled from a year ago, and the average usage time per person has also increased.

According to the mobile index of AI tech company IGA Works on the 8th, the number of monthly active users (MAU) of the ChatGPT app last month was 18,762,276.

This is an increase of approximately 5.71 million (43.8%) from the 13,048,025 in the same month last year, and an increase of approximately 770,000 (4.3%) from the 17,993,884 in September the previous month.

This is the first time since the mobile index statistics were compiled that the number of monthly users of the ChatGPT app exceeded 18 million.

With the increase in users, usage time also increased significantly.

The total usage time of the ChatGPT app last month was approximately 50.98 million hours, an increase of 113.9% from approximately 23.83 million hours in the same month last year. This is significantly higher than the user growth rate.

The average monthly usage time per person is about 163 minutes, a 48.8% increase from about 110 minutes in the same month last year.

The time one person spends using the ChatGPT app in a month has increased by about 53 minutes.

Among AI/artificial intelligence app users compiled by Mobile Index, the percentage of users using ChatGPT increased from about 84% in the same month last year to about 91% last month.

This means that about 9 out of 10 AI app users counted used ChatGPT.

Antropic's Claude also showed rapid growth.

Last month, the Claude app MAU was about 2.1 million, which is 15 times the number of about 140,000 in the same month last year.

The ranking of users rose from 7th to 2nd.

The total usage time was about 3.88 million hours, which was 22 times the level of a year ago. The average monthly usage time per person also increased from about 75 minutes to 111 minutes.

On the other hand, Adot MAU was about 1.07 million, down 42.5% from a year ago. Perplexity decreased by 30.9% to approximately 570,000 people.

In the number of new installations, ChatGPT ranked first with approximately 790,000, but decreased by 16.2% compared to the same month last year.

Claude ranked second with approximately 490,000 cases, 13 times the number from a year ago.

These statistics are compiled based on domestic Android and iOS app use and do not include web use.

Mobile Index explained that Google Gemini can be used through Google apps in addition to independent apps, so some usage may not be counted depending on how it is used.
