GS Caltex sponsors the '2026 815 Run' to celebrate the 81st Liberation Day... 300 executives and employees participated

Seoul = Reporter Kang Tae-woo, Yonhap News = GS Caltex announced on the 17th that it sponsored the '2026 815 Run' held at Sangam World Cup Park in Seoul on the 15th to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day, and a total of 300 executives and employees and their families participated.

The 815 Run is a donation marathon held by Habitat Korea every year around Liberation Day to commemorate the sacrifice and dedication of independence fighters and to improve the poor living conditions of their descendants.

The 815 Run consists of an offline run and a virtual run running 8.15 km, and all proceeds generated from the event will be used to improve the residential environment of descendants of independence fighters.

GS Caltex is continuing the spirit of the independence movement of the founder of GS Group by sponsoring 815 runs for six consecutive years starting in 2021.

The late Heo Man-jeong, founder of GS Group, participated as a shareholder in the establishment of Baeksan Store, which provided independence funds to the Provisional Government of Shanghai during the Japanese colonial period, and also worked to enlighten the nation through education.

In addition, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in 2019, GS Caltex developed and distributed for free an 'independent font' that modernly restored the handwriting of five independence activists including Yun Bong-gil, Han Yong-un, Baekbeom Kim Gu, Yun Dong-ju, and Ahn Jung-geun.
