7 people arrested for alleged irregularities in public tenders in Hakkari

In the studies carried out by the Hakkari Provincial Police Department, it was determined that there were irregularities in some goods and services purchases made to meet the needs of public institutions. Thereupon, an investigation was launched under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that some tender processes were rigged, official documents were falsified and irregular corrections were made, progress payment fees for the works carried out by contractor companies were increased, and in this way, higher payments were made from the institution's budget than the actual amount, causing public damage.

In line with the information, documents and findings obtained, 8 suspects, including a public official, who were considered to have participated or assisted in the actions in question, were detained.

While one of the suspects, who was referred to the courthouse after being processed at the police station, was released, 7 suspects, including a public official, were arrested by the court.

It was reported that within the scope of the investigation, measures were taken to seize the bank accounts of the suspects and the companies subject to investigation, in line with the court decision.
