Rua do Meio Square in Varre-Sai receives free open-air cinema with accessibility

Praça da Rua do Meio, in the center of Varre-Sai, in Noroeste Fluminense, will have two free open-air cinema sessions this Saturday (12). The program starts at 6:30 pm and will feature eight Brazilian short films, divided into two sessions.

The productions will be shown with audio description for people with visual impairments, a Libras window and descriptive subtitling.

The program is open to the public and will be held on Rua Capitão Bernardino de Oliveira Santos. During the sessions, free popcorn and soft drinks will be distributed, with prize draws after the screenings.

The first session starts at 6:30 pm and will feature four short films: “Contos Mirabolantes – O Olho do Mapinguari”, an animation from Pará; “O Celaticomus”, from Minas Gerais; “Dela”, fiction from Bahia; and “About Friendships and Bicycles”, from Paraná.

The 8pm session will feature “Lily’s Hair”, from Goiás; “Amani’s Veil”, from the Federal District; “Guri”, from Espírito Santo; and “The Man Who Became a Meme”, from São Paulo.

The films address themes such as identity, diversity, inclusion, friendship, racism and cultural differences. The program also brings together stories of humor and Brazilian imagination, with productions from different regions of the country.
