Berlin. Some define wealth in terms of sums of money – 500,000 euros, a million euros or even more. Others wonder what percentages of the population are considered rich. In short: economists and sociologists, investors and private investors can all argue about who is considered rich. Ultimately, wealth is also a question of individual definition.

Current data from the Deutsche Bundesbank shows how wealthy Germans are overall. Almost 4,000 households were interviewed for the survey “Private households and their finances” - an attempt was also made to reach particularly rich households.

On this basis, Handelsblatt has developed a calculator that you can use to determine how rich you are - based on your personal definition. The calculator enables a concrete comparison: Where do you stand with your current available assets compared to the part of the population that you consider to be rich?
