Hurkacz defeated the Chinese hope and entered the next round in Shanghai

Hubert Hurkacz continues his excellent series during the Asian tour. After a great performance in Beijing, where he reached the semi-finals, he now shines on the hard courts in Shanghai.

In Sunday's third-round match, the Polish tennis player defeated the host representative, Yi Zhou, after a three-set match 6:2, 3:6, 6:3.

Road to the 1/8 finals

Hurkacz started the match very confidently, winning the first set 6:2. In the second set, the Chinese was unexpectedly better, taking advantage of the Pole's momentary loss of concentration and equalizing the score.

However, the decisive set was a showcase of Hurkacz's play, which left no doubts to his young rival and reached the 1/8 finals.

Defeated Djokovic and further challenges

It is worth recalling that on the way to this stage of the tournament, Hurkacz managed to defeat Novak Djokovic himself, which only confirms his high form. Now the Pole will be faced by either the seventh seeded American Frances Tiafoe or the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (no. 25).

Both rivals are demanding opponents, but Hurkacz has proven more than once that he can beat the best.
