IAEA Director-General Announces Preparations to Immediately Dispatch Inspectors to Iran

Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said he was prepared to dispatch inspectors to Iran immediately.

In an interview with Russia's RIA Novosti on the 30th (local time), President Grossi stated his current position, saying, "If there is a request, it is possible even tomorrow."

This means that measures are in place to immediately provide technical support if the United States and Iran compromise on the nuclear issue to end the war.

President Grossi said that experts are already ready to return, saying, “It is realistically possible and our team is ready.”

He said, “I know exactly where to go and what to do,” and “I don’t just say it, I actually have that capability.”

Iran allowed IAEA inspections under the 2015 nuclear agreement.

However, inspections were suspended when the United States attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in June of last year, and this issue was discussed when a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with the United States last June, but differences of opinion could not be narrowed down.

Since then, the return to nuclear inspection has not been possible due to renewed airstrikes with the United States.

On the 9th, the IAEA referred Iran to the UN Security Council for violating its nuclear non-proliferation obligations for the first time in 20 years, pressuring Iran for cooperation.
