Galatasaray and transfer statement from Icardi: 'I can't wait to give my answer on the field!'

Mauro Icardi, who left the team after his contract with Galatasaray expired, made important statements about his future. Speaking to La Repubblica, the Argentinian striker, who has not signed with a new club yet, said that he received many offers, but he preferred to wait because there was no project that convinced him.

Icardi's statements were as follows:

"THE END WAS PAINFUL"

"Returning to Inter would be special. I lived important years, I built a part of myself with that jersey and the captain's armband. The ending was painful and I wish I could have completed this story differently. But a return would only be meaningful if there was mutual belief and a goal to achieve together. I still have a lot to give: If I return somewhere, it will be to be useful and to win."

"LOSING THE CAPTAIN'S ARMLET HURTED ME SO MUCH"

"I would change the way I handled some moments, especially the last period. Losing the captain's armband hurt me a lot. During the same period, I had a problem with my knee, I was playing every match with an injection due to severe pain. Questioning this big problem was a difficult thing to accept. Today, I could express myself better and deal with some situations more calmly. Accepting this does not take away anything from what I gave to Inter. It means maturity."

"I CAN'T WAIT TO GIVE MY ANSWER ON THE FIELD"

"I have often been described as a figure before a football player. Those who work with me know how I train, how I experience the unity within the team, and how much importance I attach to winning. I can't wait to give my answer on the field to those who think I have nothing to give anymore."

"I PREFERRED TO WAIT"

"I received offers, but I chose to wait rather than accept a project that I did not fully believe in. I grew up in Italy, both as a person and as a football player. I would like to return there with a project that would excite me and with the opportunity to build something important. There is a connection with the past, but with an eye to the future."

"THERE IS A CONNECTION WITH THE PAST, BUT LOOKING TO THE FUTURE"

"I grew up in Italy, both as a person and as a football player. I would like to return there with a project that would excite me and the possibility of building something important. There is a connection with the past, but with an eye to the future."

"THE LOVE I FOUND IN ISTANBUL WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY LIFE"

"I came to Galatasaray to win and change the situation the club is in. We have achieved great things with my teammates. The bond between us and the fans goes far beyond goals and results. The love I received in Istanbul will always have a special place in my life. When a family names their child after you, it means they make you a part of their story. This makes me very emotional and makes me feel a great responsibility. I think Galatasaray fans understand how much I care about the club."
