ICC Prosecutor Says Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu and Galant Remain Active Despite US Sanctions

THE HAGUE, September 21. /TASS/. The Prosecutor's Office of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has not revoked the arrest warrants of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant despite US sanctions against it, acting prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan said.

"We have taken no steps to try and withdraw any of those arrest warrant applications or the arrest warrants themselves, and the team continues to investigate in that situation," she said on CNN, when asked about the continuation of a case against the Israeli politicians in the light of American sanctions.

Khan also said that when applying for arrest warrants, the prosecutor's office is guided by "the law and the evidence" and rejects "any attempt to suggest that we have some other ulterior motive."

On November 21, 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed from at least October 8, 2023 to May 20, 2024 in Palestine, including the Gaza Strip.

On February 6, 2025, US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on the ICC. The US accused the authority of illegal actions against Washington and its allies, such as Israel. The decree allows for the application of financial and visa restrictions against ICC employees involved in investigations against US citizens or citizens of their allies, as well as their family members.
