Teenagers are arrested on suspicion of strangling a driver and stealing a car in Presidente Prudente

The 40-year-old victim managed to escape from the car. Police located the stolen vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed. During the approach, the young people tried to escape, but were captured.

Two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were arrested this Tuesday (22) in Presidente Prudente (SP). They are suspected of strangling a driver and stealing his car.

The Military Police located the speeding car and captured the suspects after they attempted to escape. With one of them, there was a pocket knife, marijuana and money.

The 15-year-old claimed to have strangled the victim with his belt after feeling threatened on a ride. The driver reported that he managed to escape.

The teenagers were taken to Fundação Casa de Irapuru (SP) and were not released. The car and stolen items were returned to the 40-year-old owner.

Two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of an infraction similar to the crime of robbery after strangling a driver and stealing his car in Presidente Prudente (SP), this Tuesday (22).

According to the incident report, the Military Police were called by a resident who found the 40-year-old man and was helping him on a public road.

The driver told the police that he had been approached by the two teenagers, who strangled him and fled with the car. Shortly afterwards, the team received information that the vehicle was being driven at high speed through another part of the city.

During the approach to the vehicle, the young people tried to escape, but were captured. Police found a pocket knife, a portion of marijuana and money with one of them. The other had his cell phone.

The 15-year-old teenager told police that he met the car's owner at a store and got a ride with him. During the journey, according to the report, he felt threatened and strangled the driver with his seat belt.

The victim reported that he managed to escape from the vehicle and was rescued by the resident who was passing by.

Given the seriousness of the act carried out, under the terms of articles 174 and 175 of the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA), the adolescents were not released, having been sent to Fundação Casa de Irapuru (SP), remaining at the disposal of the Curator of Children and Youth and the respective Court.

The victim's car and belongings were returned to her. The incident was registered as an infraction of theft and narcotics, in addition to the location/seizure and delivery of a vehicle to the Presidente Prudente Police Station.
