Salvador municipal guard is found dead in Uibaí; suspect arrested with 38 caliber revolver

According to police, the man was found after collecting information and analyzing video surveillance images. His identity was not revealed.

With him, a 38 caliber revolver was found which, according to the Civil Police, had signs of use in the homicide. However, the corporation stated that the weapon will be subjected to forensic examination for possible involvement in the crime.

The suspect was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and remains in custody.

Salvador's municipal guard was found dead in Uibaí on Friday (18). The information was confirmed by the Civil Police on Sunday (20).

Sought by TV Bahia, the police authority said that the body of Gustavo Ferreira Rocha, aged 43, was found in a rural area, with injuries compatible with gunshots. A police investigation was opened by the 1st Territorial Police Station (DT/Irecê), in the region, which is investigating the authorship and motivation of the crime.

In a statement, the GCM of the capital of Bahia expressed regret over the death of the guard and said that, since the early hours of the morning, it has been seeking contact with the agent's family to provide all necessary support.

The corporation also highlighted that it is monitoring developments in the case and is seeking detailed information from the police authorities investigating the circumstances of the death.
