Fire in L'Ametlla del Vallès residence leaves 70 treated and eight hospitalized

Some 70 people have been treated and eight of them hospitalized in a less serious condition due to smoke inhalation in a fire that broke out this Tuesday night on the first floor of a four-story residence located on Llenora street, in the Barcelona town of L'Ametlla del Vallès.

The Medical Emergency System of the Generalitat of Catalonia (SEM) has reported, through a message published on the social network X, that four people have been transferred to the Granollers Hospital and another four to the Mollet Hospital.

This same source has specified that evaluations continue to be carried out and that, for the moment, of the 70 affected, 37 have been treated and 33 remain confined pending evaluation.

Ten medical units remain at the scene, including two joint SEM units with the Catalan Fire Department.

The fire has affected several rooms on the 1st floor and, as a preventive measure, all the people on that floor and the 2nd floor have been evacuated, out of a total of 80 users and 6 workers who were in the residence.

The majority of residents were, initially, evacuated from the 1st and 2nd floors and transferred to a safe, smoke-free area located on the ground floor of the same residence, while some smoke has reached the 3rd floor, although the situation has been controlled and users have been confined to the rooms.

Finally, Firefighters of Catalonia have reported that 8 people have been confined on the first floor, some of them on the 2nd floor, and all the residents on the 3rd floor.
