Report rules out pregnancy of dead student in Fortaleza; boyfriend is arrested

An expert report ruled out that student Isabelle Caracristi, who died on September 13, was pregnant. The information was passed on by the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS) this Tuesday (22). Her boyfriend, João Munhoz Neto, was arrested in Fortaleza.

The first version, which pointed to Isabelle's pregnancy, was presented by her brother, Rafael Magalhães, this Monday (21).

Forensic Expertise (Pefoce) carried out several examinations and examinations on the victim's body. The cadaveric report indicated polytrauma as the cause of death, with injuries to the victim's body compatible with the impact against the ground.

Laboratory tests carried out on the victim also showed negative results for substances of toxicological interest.

The Pefoce team carried out an examination of the apartment, the building's terrace and the place where the student's body fell on the same night as the incident.

At Pefoce headquarters, the body was subjected to a detailed necroscopic examination and collections and tests were carried out relevant to the circumstances investigated, including those aimed at investigating aspects related to gender-based violence.

The cell phone and a tablet belonging to João's mother, identified as Sara Regina Alexandre Munhoz, were seized by the Civil Police. She works at the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration and Resocialization of Ceará (SAP). Isabelle's cell phone was also recovered by the police and will be examined.

What happened

University student Isabelle Caracristi, aged 22, was found dead in the courtyard of the condominium where she lived with her boyfriend and his family, on the night of last Sunday (13), in the Aldeota neighborhood, in Fortaleza.

The case gained repercussion on social media this Friday (18), after the victim's mother released a video demanding explanations and justice for the case (check out the video above).

The 2nd Civil Police Station of the Capital is investigating the case. A Criminal Forensics team went to the location, on the night of September 13th, to deal with the case. "According to the information obtained during the care, the death occurred on the same date, around 8:40 pm," said the ministry.

João Munhoz Neto was arrested this Tuesday (22). g1 found that the request for preventive detention is based on the following articles of the Penal Code:

122, inducing or instigating someone to commit suicide or to practice self-harm or providing material for the victim to cause harm to themselves;

147, threat.

He told police that he received two messages from the young woman before her death in the building. The messages were sent while he was at a mass in the neighborhood of Fátima, in Fortaleza, on the night of the incident.

Lawyer Lígia Peixe, who represents João Munhoz Neto's defense, criticized his arrest. She also said that the law graduate is married to another woman, but is in the process of getting a divorce.
