In his post titled "We are on the field for our children" on his NSosyal account, Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi announced the security measures to be implemented in schools and their surroundings so that students can continue their education in peace and safety in the 2026-2027 academic year.
“WE SUPPLIED 2 THOUSAND 804 HAND DETECTORS”
Stating that the measures have been taken to the highest level to ensure that children go to school safely and return to their homes in peace, Çiftçi said, "Our security and gendarmerie teams are on the field for our children. We are establishing a safer education environment with instant inspections. We have completed our planning for 31 thousand school garden officers in our 81 provinces. We have supplied 2 thousand 804 hand detectors to be used in our priority schools." he said.
Minister Çiftçi emphasized that schools are evaluated according to their risk situations, and school law enforcement officers, safe education coordination officers and patrol teams are assigned sensitively according to need.
Farmer said:
"During the academic year, we will carry out 'School Environment and Service Vehicles Inspection Practice for the Protection of Children and Young People' throughout the country. We are determinedly on the field in every issue that may threaten our children, from the fight against drugs to traffic and cyber security. Our goal is very clear, our children should be educated in safety, and our parents should not be left behind. On this occasion, I wish the new academic year to be beneficial and I wish success to all our students."
TEAM AND PATROL ACTIVITIES WILL BE INCREASED
According to the statement made by the Ministry, the measures taken were aimed at enabling students to continue their education in peace and safety, reducing risks in the school environment and strengthening coordination between institutions.
In this context, team and patrol activities will be increased during school entrance and exit hours throughout the academic year, and security measures will be intensified in priority schools.
While efforts to popularize security cameras continue, inspections of private security guards working in schools will also be increased. Information sharing and coordination between school administrations and relevant institutions and organizations will be continued effectively.
Inspections on internet cafes, game halls, kiosks, street vendors and similar workplaces around schools will be increased in coordination with relevant institutions.
Necessary checks will be carried out against people who are not affiliated with the school and may pose a risk to the safety of students, and the necessary additional security measures will be taken by evaluating the observations and notices from the residents of the neighborhood.
WEIGHT WILL BE GIVEN TO NARCOTIC CONTROLS IN SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS
"Security measures meetings" will be held with the participation of relevant institutions within the scope of the fight against drugs and stimulants. The activities of relevant law enforcement units, especially narcotics, in front of and around schools will be increased.
Inspections to prevent the possession and sale of alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco products and cutting, piercing and injurious items in school areas will also be continued throughout the academic year.
Information and awareness-raising activities will be carried out for students on personal security, crime protection methods and cyber security.
INSPECTIONS ON SERVICE VEHICLES WILL BE INCREASED
Within the scope of traffic safety, upon the instruction of Minister Çiftçi, inspections for pedestrian and student safety will be increased in school environments in 81 provinces and controls regarding the right of way for pedestrians will be carried out. Traffic signs, signs and other physical measures will be checked and the identified deficiencies will be eliminated.
Inspections on school buses will be intensified during the 2026-2027 academic year to ensure that students reach their schools safely.
Within the scope of the measures to be taken in schools, in accordance with the 7-step security model announced by Minister Çiftçi, 31 thousand school garden guard quotas were allocated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security within the scope of Community Benefit Programs (TYP) through İŞKUR.
Assignments will be made taking into account the priority levels of the schools.
