Horrible ex-boyfriend! Sued for spreading nude photos and sexual images of ex on IG and Douyin

Horrible ex-boyfriend is being sued for maliciously distributing private videos of his ex-girlfriend! A year after a man surnamed Sun from Taipei City broke up with his ex-girlfriend Xiaoru (pseudonym), he forwarded sexual images and private photos of Xiaoru’s face, breasts, and private parts to IG and TikTok. After investigation, the Keelung District Prosecutor's Office found that Sun Nan was guilty of violating the Personal Data Protection Act and distributing sexual images of others without reason, and prosecuted him.

The prosecution pointed out that Sun Nan and Xiao Ru were once boyfriend and girlfriend, and the two parties broke up in early 2024. Unexpectedly, Sun Nan later obtained Xiaoru's images and private photos from an unknown person nicknamed "Xiao Zhou". At about 5 a.m. on July 2 last year, at his residence in Taipei City, he forwarded more than 10 sexual images and private photos of Xiaoru's face, chest, and private parts to IG and Douyin.

When Xiaoru was browsing IG online that morning, he saw nude photos and sexual images of himself and immediately reported the incident to the police. The police were informed of the investigation and went to seize Sun Nan's mobile phone and prosecute Sun Nan according to law. The prosecution pointed out that during the police inquiry and interrogation, although Sun Nan admitted that he had uploaded Xiaoru's sexual images to a limited time update, he argued: "I don't know if this is considered a violation of the personal information law!"

The prosecutor determined that Sun Nan's dissemination of Xiaoru's nude photos and videos violated the Personal Data Protection Act's "illegal use of personal information by non-public agencies" and violated the Criminal Code's crime of distributing sexual images of others without reason. They asked the court to consider the crime in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, which carries more severe penalties. The mobile phone used as the carrier of the crime also requested to be confiscated.
