Ekrem İmamoğlu defends himself in the 'Corruption' case against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality

The 98th hearing of the "İmamoğlu profit-oriented criminal organization" case, in which 436 defendants, 57 of whom are detained, has started. Ekrem İmamoğlu is making his defense at the hearing to be held today. NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel and his accompanying delegation were in the hall to follow the hearing.

In the 'Corruption' case against IMM, 436 defendants, 53 of whom were detained, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his duty, appeared before the judge at the 98th hearing. Ekrem İmamoğlu will make his defense at the hearing today.

The 'Corruption' investigation against Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his post as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and arrested, was completed and a 3,809-page indictment was prepared on November 11, 2025.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is mentioned as the 'organization leader' in the indictment; 'Establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime', 'Bribery', 'Laundering of proceeds of crime', 'Fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations', 'Recording personal data', 'Seizing and disseminating personal data', 'Hiding evidence of crime', 'Obstructing communications', 'Damaging public property', 'Taking bribes', 'Disseminating misleading information to the public', 'Extortion', 'Property resulting from crime' It was claimed that he committed the crimes of "laundering values", "tender rigging", "deliberate pollution of the environment", "opposition to the tax procedure law", "opposition to the forest law" and "opposition to the mining law".

It was requested that İmamoğlu be sentenced to imprisonment from 828 years and 2 months to 2,352 years for 142 actions.

The hearing started at 12:00 in the hall of Marmara Penal Institution Silivri Campus. İmamoğlu is defending.

At the 34th hearing of the hearing, YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel, YENİ Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, Ekrem İmamoğlu's mother Havva İmamoğlu, father Hasan İmamoğlu, wife Dilek İmamoğlu, son Selim İmamoğlu and the audience were present.
