Operation against criminal group that trafficked drugs from Bolivia and Peru arrests four people in Uberlândia

The action seeks to dismantle a criminal organization being investigated for international drug trafficking and money laundering. According to FICCO, court orders are also served in the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Norte, Goiás and Santa Catarina.

In Minas Gerais, the warrants are served in Guaxupé, in the south of Minas, and in São João Del Rei, in the Zona da Mata Mineira, in addition to Uberlândia.

In total, the operation carried out 23 arrest warrants, 20 search and seizure warrants and three home confinement warrants with electronic monitoring in the five states. In addition to the warrants, two red notices were also issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) and the transfer of two of the main suspects to the federal penitentiary system.

According to the Federal Police, the measures also include the asset kidnapping of up to R$187 million, covering 69 individuals and legal entities, in addition to the immediate kidnapping of 11 properties and an aircraft in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Bahia.

The addresses of the search and seizure warrants and the names of those investigated were not disclosed by the Federal Police due to the confidentiality of the investigations.

According to investigations, the criminal group acquired drugs in Bolivia and Peru and operated in the transportation and distribution of drugs in Brazil. Those investigated also moved resources and hid assets.

Those investigated may be held liable, depending on their respective involvement, for the crimes of international drug trafficking, association for drug trafficking and money laundering.
