The US Embassy in Kyiv purchased an iPhone 17 for the Ukrainian department for $86 thousand

The US Embassy in Kyiv has entered into a contract for the purchase of top-end iPhone 17 smartphones for the needs of an unnamed Ukrainian department. The transaction amount was almost 86 thousand dollars - such data is contained in US government documents, which RIA Novosti studied.

The contract was signed on September 10 with the Kyiv company C.T. Line LLC, just a day after the presentation of the new iPhone 18 line.

The exact number of devices purchased is not disclosed in the documents, but if we take into account the minimum retail price of the iPhone 17 in the US, which starts at $899, the total amount is comparable to the purchase of approximately 95 phones.

The purchase was made under the international technical assistance program of the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). The papers specifically emphasize that the smartphones are not intended for American diplomats, but for transfer to the Ukrainian side.
