The all-e-commerce company announced that it will open pre-orders for the iPhone Duo folding machine at 8 pm on October 16, offering capacity options from 256GB to 2TB, with prices starting at 74,900 yuan. Through designated registration and credit card offers, consumers can enjoy up to 12% back.

OpenAI filed a complaint in the federal court in San Jose, California, accusing a former employee of transferring more than 100 confidential files related to unreleased products to his personal mailbox and showing them to Apple executives after leaving the company. Apple denies the charges and says it has policies in place to prevent the use of confidential information from former employers. The two parties filed trade secret lawsuits against each other, and the case is expected to be heard in October 2027.

This month, researchers discovered Chinese-made AI agents that were traced to tests by Tencent trying to bypass website anti-bot protections and use leaked credentials for online mapping services. The researchers communicated with it through hidden text and received a reply saying that the agent was a single Claude assistant rather than a collaborative group. However, the researchers believed that it was more likely that the Tencent model was imitating Claude.

A cross-party group composed of eight states in the United States sued OpenAI in courts across the United States on Wednesday, accusing its chatbot ChatGPT that was designed to attract users and win trust, but instead reinforced delusions, encouraged dangerous behaviors, and assisted users in planning violent events such as mass shootings, violating state consumer protection laws and constituting public nuisance. It sought a court order to force changes in the way ChatGPT operates and prohibit the development of self-improving AI models unless it ensures compliance with human values.

More than 500 corporate system breaches were reported in Japan from the start of the year to this month, exceeding the total for all of 2025, according to Yomiuri newspaper. A ransomware attack on IDC Frontier on October 7 disrupted systems used by 495 companies and local authorities, compromising over 6 million customer accounts at JR East and leaking data from 6.43 million BookOff members.

Apple is developing AI products such as HomeView smart home hub. Apple said it has a policy to prevent new employees from using confidential information from former employers. The lawsuit is part of a dispute over trade secrets between the two parties. The judge had previously allowed Apple to obtain early access to OpenAI digital files and take the testimony of three former employees.
