Iran proposes solving the conflict with the US and Israel through negotiations, Trump considers resuming bombing

Aragchi stressed that resolving the conflict with the US and Israel is possible only through talks.

"Our conditions are clear and any steps towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz are conditional on their fulfillment. Only a negotiated solution can provide a way out of this impasse," Aragchi wrote. He added: "We are waiting for the mediators to give us their final position and based on that we will make a decision."

According to the Wall Street Journal, which cited anonymous informants, Donald Trump did not accept the Iranian proposal. The American president said on Saturday that the Iranian authorities are seeking an agreement "because they are losing so much."

Trump is expected to consider resuming bombing of Iran after the November election. American officials reportedly told WSJ that the president's views may change, depending on the election results, in which the opposition is the favorite.

What did the Iranians propose?

Tehran's proposal, forwarded to the US by Qatar, envisaged a simultaneous cessation of hostilities in the region and the beginning of a seven-day period, after which the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to navigation - provided an agreement was reached with Washington.

Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian said that his country was ready for negotiations, but would not agree to "blackmail and intimidation." He also recalled that Tehran had previously declared its agreement "not to develop nuclear weapons."

At the same time, an anonymous representative of the Iranian authorities told Reuters that Iran does not intend to budge on its right to enrich uranium or agree to export highly enriched material outside the country.

The war, which has been going on for seven months, has seriously hampered the transportation of oil through the region. The US imposed an economic blockade on Iran after attacks on merchant ships.
