Iran has launched the Alaj platform to report political opponents abroad

Iranian authorities have introduced a new online platform, Alaj, that allows citizens to report people considered to be political opponents of the regime living outside the country.

As reported by the Fars news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), "Alaj's goal is to defend national security against anti-Iranian currents."

The platform operators claim that thanks to user reports, they have already identified 600 people. The website publishes detailed information about Iranians abroad, including photos and personal data. The consequences mentioned included measures such as freezing bank accounts and preventing the use of consular services.

The creators of Alaj emphasize that their actions are directed against people who "act against the interests and security of the country." These included people supporting sanctions or military action against Iran, as well as members of separatist groups.

The campaign related to the launch of the platform is part of the increasingly harsh rhetoric of the Iranian authorities towards politically active citizens abroad. In his Monday speech, President Massoud Pezeshkian accused some Iranians of collaborating with foreign enemies and trying to destabilize the country. Some of them, by allying with the enemy, are trying to incite public opinion in the country, said the president.
