Irene Montero will make her candidacy official to lead the alternative left

The MEP and former Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, will make official this Saturday her proposal to lead the alternative left through a candidacy sponsored by her party in the next general elections, with the intention of making it "as broad as possible."

This was stated by the Political Secretary of Podemos, who tomorrow will speak at an event called in Madrid by her party, with the motto 'Peace, home, work'.

In April of last year, Podemos launched Montero as its reference to lead a candidacy for the general elections, with a hand extended to other sectors of the left and civil society. A challenge that the former minister took on to once again raise a "strong" left that is not subordinated to the PSOE. However, the party has not yet defined its alliance policy.

Their formation also defended the possibility of an electoral tandem by the ERC spokesperson in Congress Gabriel Rufián, after an act that both shared, although that hypothetical alliance did not crystallize and the formation made it clear that there will be no convergence with state forces.

Now, Montero once again shows his intention to command the alternative left in the next elections in a context where the parties in the government of the minority partner (Movimiento Sumar, IU, Comuns and Más Madrid) still lack a candidate to lead the reissue of his coalition.
