Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office lifted precautions against some suspects in the investigation into the alleged stock market manipulation.

There has been a new development in the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Terrorism Financing and Laundering Crimes Investigation Bureau, regarding the allegation that manipulative transactions were made through funds in the shares traded in Borsa Istanbul.

In the new letter sent by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to the relevant institutions, it was stated that a new evaluation was made in line with "the statements taken and other evidence collected" about some suspects whose assets and money movements were taken within the scope of the investigation.

As a result, it was decided to lift the measures and suspension of proceedings against Ali Emre Ballı, Güven Çapan, Hayati Efe Oğuz, Murat Yönaç and Mustafa Yazıcı.

Mustafa Yazıcı, one of the names whose precautions were lifted, is the son of Hayati Yazıcı, one of the founders of the AKP, former Minister of Customs and Trade, and currently the Deputy Chairman of the AKP in Charge of Political and Legal Affairs.

Murat Yönaç is the former vice president of BRSA and the founder of Adil Katılım Bankası.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the previous letter of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that some shares had increased up to 100 times, that most of the shares were collected through funds and that there was a "strong suspicion of crime" that benefits were gained through artificial price increases.

In this context, it was requested that precautions be taken against the transactions that could reduce the assets of the suspects, such as transfer, sale, donation, account closure, high amount cash withdrawal and money transfer, and the capital market instruments in their accounts be frozen.
