An apartment fire in Kepez broke out in the house of a resident who went to Istanbul while searching for his son who had been missing for 8 days.

The fire broke out at around 19:00 on the ground floor of the 5-storey apartment building located on 2295 street in Teomanpaşa District of Kepez district.

Allegedly, smoke began to spread from the house of Hasan A., whose son had been missing for 8 days and therefore went to Istanbul to participate in television programs. Neighbors who noticed the smoke emanating from the flat notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Meanwhile, homeowner Hasan A., who learned the news of the fire, asked his neighbor İlknur Bodur to take care of his house.

The neighbor's child, who lives across the burning flat, entered the house from the balcony and gave first aid to the fire along with the residents of the flat. Then, fire brigade and police teams were dispatched to the address. With the intervention of the teams, the fire was taken under control and extinguished. Material damage occurred in the apartment.

'CHILDREN NOTICED THE BURNING SMELL'

İlknur Bodur, one of the neighbors who first responded to the fire, explained what happened. Bodur said, "We live in Teomanpaşa District. I came from work at 18:00. The children came running and said they smelled burning. Since my nose doesn't smell much, I asked the neighbors upstairs. They said they smelled it too. Then the owner of the house reached me and said, 'Sister, can you come downstairs?' We went down and told the neighbor across the street. The neighbor's son threw himself in from the balcony. We tried to intervene in the fire inside. Then my wife called the police and the neighbors called the fire department."

'OUR NEIGHBOR WENT TO ISTANBUL'

Bodur stated that the owner of the house went to Istanbul and said, "We do not know what caused the fire. Our neighbor also went to Istanbul. His son has been missing for 8 days. He went to a television program. He appeared on the program to find his son. We do not know when he will come."

Bodur also stated that the owner of the house contacted him and asked him to take care of the house and said, "He reached out to me and said, 'Sister, can you look at a house?' The children said they smelled something burning. The news had already gone to him. We said 'OK' and said we would do what was necessary. This is how we were able to do what was necessary."

'FIRE FIRE HAD DIFFICULTY ENTERING THE STREET'

Explaining that the fire crews had difficulty entering the street during the fire due to parked vehicles, Bodur said, "The fire truck had difficulty because there were vehicles on our street. A little more care needs to be taken to enter our neighborhood. We want our citizens to show the necessary sensitivity on this issue."

While police teams started an investigation into the fire, fire brigades also worked to determine the cause of the fire.
