The social housing project for rent in Istanbul, for which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that applications will begin on September 15, will facilitate access to housing at affordable prices for citizens who do not own a home.
In addition to the 100 thousand houses to be built in Istanbul with the Housing Project of the Century, 15 thousand social houses will be rented for low-income citizens with a system that will be implemented for the first time in Turkey.
Within the scope of the project, where applications will be received for 4 different regions in Istanbul, in the first stage, 1017 houses will be built for married Turkish citizens over 18 years of age who meet the specified conditions for a period of 3 years. will be rented to citizens.
RENTS WILL START FROM 10 THOUSAND TL
Within the scope of the project, which will offer the opportunity to rent houses at prices below the market value, rental amounts will start from 10 thousand TL per month.
Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, shared the questions and answers about the project, whose applications will be collected between 14 September and 25 September 2026, on his social media account.
HOW MANY HOUSES WILL BE RENTED IN WHICH DISTRICT?
According to the information shared by Minister Kurum, the districts were gathered in 4 groups for the project.
A total of 1071 houses will be rented, a total of 360 in Başakşehir, Gaziosmanpaşa, Beyoğlu and Güngören districts, a total of 330 in Maltepe, Tuzla and Kartal districts, a total of 291 in Ataşehir, Sancaktepe, Ümraniye and Üsküdar districts, and 90 in Arnavutköy district.
Those residing within the provincial borders of Istanbul will be able to apply for the district of their choice.
Again, quotas were given to citizens in 4 groups.
Young Married Families will be allocated 1+1 or 2+1 housing, and Families with Two or More Children will be allocated 2+1, 3+1 or 4+1 housing.
APPLICATION FEE WILL NOT BE CHARGED
Applications will be made via e-Government, from the "Housing / Workplace Application" service menu, which is among the services of the Mass Housing Administration.
No application fee will be charged.

5- Can applications be made from provinces other than Istanbul?
Only citizens residing in Istanbul will be able to apply for the project.
6- Will anyone be able to apply to any of the announced districts? Is there a requirement to reside in these districts?

7- Will those with title deeds be able to apply?
Those who have a house title deed will not be able to apply.
8- Will those who have bought and sold a house before be able to apply?
Those who have purchased or sold a property that is an independent residence in the last 5 years will not be able to apply.
9- Will the person renting a house be evicted if he buys a house?
Yes, if a house is purchased within the allocation period, the house must be evacuated.
10- How many types of houses will be included in the project?
Within the scope of the project, there are 1+1, 2+1, 3+1 and 4+1 housing types.
11- Will there be an annual rent increase?
It will not be increased for 12 months from the date notified by the Administration for housing delivery.
In the first January following the end of the 12-month period, there will be an increase in the CPI rate.
12- When will rent payments start?
The allocation fee will start to be paid on the 20th of the month following the delivery of the house.
13- Can those who have primary or reserve active rights within the scope of social housing or My First Home Land projects apply?
No, they cannot apply.
14-How and when will applications be made, how will I find out whether the application has been accepted or not?
Applications will be received via e-Government between 14/09/2026 and 25/09/2026.

15- Can we extend the period after 3 years?
No, the allocation period is limited to 3 years and will not be extended.
