There is a danger of flooding in Istanbul tomorrow

NTV Meteorology Editor Dilek Çalışkan said that the air temperature in Istanbul, which is in the 22-23 degree band today, will drop to 15 degrees tomorrow.

Çalışkan stated that the rainy weather system coming over the Balkans will combine with cold weather and affect Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Zonguldak, Bartın and Düzce.

Pointing out that there is a danger of floods and floods in the 24-hour period from this evening to tomorrow evening, Çalışkan said that there is a risk in the Bosphorus line and the districts on the Anatolian Side in Istanbul this evening.

The risk in Istanbul will be even higher tomorrow.

Çalışkan said that the rain that will enter the megacity via the Balkans will first be effective in Tekirdağ, Çanakkale and Ayvalık.

Stating that the rain expected to reach Istanbul in the morning will be effective on the European Side first, Çalışkan stated that floods may occur in districts such as Silivri, Arnavutköy, Beylikdüzü and Esenyurt.

The rains at these points are expected to reach the Bosphorus line and then the Anatolian Side towards tomorrow evening.

It is estimated that 80 kilograms of rain will fall per square meter in Istanbul.

Reminding that the air temperature in Istanbul is around 22-23 degrees today, Çalışkan said, "There is a stuffy weather right now. People say 'the weather will explode'. Yes, the weather will explode." he said.

Explaining that the rain will be effective along with the thunder, Çalışkan said, "Let's not get into the water up to our ankles. We need to be careful tomorrow."

Emphasizing that one should not be outside as much as possible during the hours when rain will be effective, Çalışkan called for the use of public transportation tomorrow.
