Heavy rain warning for Istanbul: Vigilance call from AKOM

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Affairs Department AKOM announced that the Marmara region, especially Istanbul, will be under the influence of the cool and rainy weather coming from the Balkans.

60-100 KG OF RAINFALL WILL FALL PER SQUARE METER

While it is expected that the rains seen locally (Tuzla, Çekmeköy Şile) in the morning hours will increase in the afternoon and have a strong effect (20-40 kg/m2) throughout the European Side, the Bosphorus and the Anatolian Side, the temperatures are expected to decrease until the evening hours, dropping to around 16 degrees.

IT WILL LAST UNTIL WEDNESDAY NIGHT

According to AKOM's estimates; Due to the system, which is expected to be effective in the region until Wednesday night hours, it is expected that the wind will blow from the north in the form of a storm (30-60 km/h) at intervals, and the temperatures will decrease by 6-8 degrees to spring values, and there will be intermittent heavy showers and occasionally very strong (60-100 kg/m2) thunderstorms throughout the province.

According to the information provided by IMM on the subject, 7 thousand 38 personnel from IMM teams, with 2 thousand 137 vehicles and work machines, are ready throughout the province against possible negativities due to the expected heavy rain.

926 personnel from fire brigades, 548 vehicles, 213 motor pumps, 523 submersible pump equipment, 1056 personnel and 649 vehicles from İSKİ, 513 personnel and 151 vehicles from İBB Road Maintenance, 538 personnel from Waste Management/İSTAÇ, 134 vehicles from police teams. 1270 personnel with 203 vehicles, 629 personnel with 109 vehicles from Park Bahçeler, 152 personnel with 41 vehicles from IMM Traffic, 486 personnel with 31 vehicles from IMM Onsite Solution, 377 personnel with 19 vehicles from IETT, 300 personnel from Metro Istanbul, 791 personnel and 252 vehicles with work machines from İGDAŞ are on alert for Istanbul.
