On October 16, E-Store announced that the personal information of approximately 23.35 million people was leaked through its ``Shopserve'' service. Of these, approximately 2.09 million people have some credit card information included. The vulnerability was exploited in the app, and no secondary damage has been confirmed.

The Supreme Court has sentenced a former company executive to guilty of professional negligence resulting in death and injury in connection with the pleasure boat accident on Lake Inawashiro. The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that it had not suffered a cyber attack and admitted that it had overestimated the magnitude of the earthquake early warning. Other news reported included the acquittal in the shooting death of President Osho, the Dodgers' failure to advance to the World Series, the centrist Liberal Democratic Party's agreement to enter into deliberations on the consumption tax reduction bill, Russia's response to the detention of Japanese journalists, the International Conference on Weights and Measures' decision to abolish the leap second, Panasonic's washer/dryer recall, and the sharp drop in the Nikkei Stock Average.

While the realization of artificial superintelligence (ASI), which surpasses human intelligence, is becoming increasingly realistic, advances in self-improvement technology are raising concerns about loss of control. CEOs of U.S. AI companies have called for a slowdown in development and international cooperation, but U.S. President Trump has dismissed the risks as "a hoax," and there is no prospect of international cooperation.
On October 13, OpenAI announced that it had discovered a sophisticated recording device hidden in its office, identified Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a Saudi employee who planted the device, and notified the FBI. The U.S. Department of Justice announced on the same day that Alfozan was arrested and charged with using electronic devices to intercept verbal conversations. The device was installed around September 28th and was hidden wrapped in toilet paper in a USB port on the back of a TV in a boardroom. The suspect, who was seen appearing on surveillance cameras multiple times despite not having access to the conference room, faces five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years' probation if convicted.
JR Tokai announced on October 13 that approximately 15,000 pieces of personal information such as email addresses, names, and addresses of customers handled on its e-commerce sites "JR Tokai MARKET" and "Iimono Tanzan" may have been leaked due to unauthorized access to IDC Frontier's cloud service. There is no possibility of your credit card information or login password being leaked. No actual leak has been confirmed at this time.
Fivot, which operates the prepaid cashless service IDARE, announced that the personal information of 129,659 users was leaked due to unauthorized access that exploited a vulnerability in external software. Phone numbers and transaction history are targeted, but passwords and images of identity verification documents are not included.
