IVE’s Taipei Arena support video contains the words “Chinese Taipei”, Hung Jian-yi criticizes Chiang Wanan for his stance

The popular South Korean girl group IVE recently held a concert at the Taipei Arena, but some people discovered that the word "Chinese Taipei" appeared in the support video broadcast on the sign on the outer wall of the Arena, causing controversy. When interviewed, Taipei City Councilor Hong Jianyi was surprised and bluntly said, "Chinese? Chinese Taipei?" He criticized the organizer for having the responsibility to handle it well, and also named Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan to respond immediately, otherwise the representative agrees with such remarks.

It is understood that the support video was produced and released by IVE's Chinese fan group. In response, the Taipei MRT Corporation stated that it did not represent the position of the Arena and had suspended the broadcast.

Hong Jianyi said that the organizer has absolutely the responsibility and obligation to handle the matter well. He emphasized: "Taiwan is a country, not a city in China." If the organizer cannot provide a reasonable explanation or a clear attitude, the relevant units should conduct a review and even consider suspending the event. The responsibility must not be put solely on the fans or people in mainland China. This kind of behavior is very disrespectful to Taipei City and Taiwan.

In addition, regarding the attitude of the Chiang City government, Hong Jianyi also bluntly said that as the mayor of the capital, if Chiang Wanan really wants to be elected mayor of Taipei, he should respond immediately as soon as possible. Hong Jianyi believes that if Jiang Wanan chooses not to react, it means that he agrees with such remarks from mainland China. "I personally think that under such circumstances, Jiang Wanan is really not suitable for election."
