Ivrea, five-year-old girl victim of torture by her parents: investigation requested for family and friends

She was only five years old and her parents insulted and mistreated her, leaving her sitting on the toilet for hours or forcing her to wear diapers even though she was old enough to wear them. Or they would place her facing the wall with her arms spread wide or force her to jump onto wooden logs and fall to her knees, photographing and filming her.

It is a sample of the horrors that is contested by the prosecutor Debora Rinaudo of the Ivrea prosecutor's office, who closed the investigation and requested the indictment of the father and mother of the child, aged 31 and 29. But the grandparents and a 42-year-old family friend also risk prosecution, accused of knowing about the abuse but of having done nothing to prevent it. Indeed, that he encouraged the two to continue.

The investigation began on 10 July 2024, when the little girl arrived by air ambulance at the Regina Margherita children's hospital in Turin. He fainted, had a swollen nose, abrasions and lesions all over his body, as well as signs of malnutrition and suspected drug intoxication. But the parents did nothing, even stopping to have an ice cream while their daughter was saved by doctors. Who, from subsequent tests, discovered that she had bones as developed as a 2-year-old girl.

The prosecutor's investigation began from the report of the health workers, which reconstructed the hell experienced by the victim. If she wet the bed at night, her parents punished her by sending her out to collect wood, even in winter. And then they forced her to sleep on wet sheets: "You did well - said the friend in a message - She must understand that she shouldn't piss on herself. It means that she likes it and so she's wet."

The list of deprivations is very long: immediately after her birth, in February 2019, her mother complained to an aunt saying "come and get this fucking child because I'm going to throw her from the balcony". And in fact the aunt had then taken care of it for about twenty days and then for another four months, between June and October.

When the child got older, the parents did not enroll her in nursery school and did not appoint a pediatrician. To prevent her from getting dirty or having to change her, they didn't give her anything to eat or drink. Then it was her grandmother who took off her dirty diaper because they were disgusted. But then, when she didn't have the urge, they forced her to jump for up to two and a half hours in the hope that it would help her go to the bathroom.
