Protest in front of Caprice Gold construction from Jet Fadıl's victims: 'We want expropriation'

Citizens who stated that they were victimized after investing in the Caprice Gold Bayrampaşa project of Fadıl Akgündüz, known publicly as "Jet Fadıl", came together to get their rights back.

In the action attended by Caprice Gold Investors Association members, demands regarding the current state of the building were expressed. In his statement, Süha Cansız, the lawyer of the victims, stated that they have been fighting for their rights for 11 years and said, "We have been here shoulder to shoulder for 11 years, trying to protect and defend this building like a castle. At the same time, we took the judicial struggle to the end and claimed our building by disrupting all the schemes set up by Jet Fadıl. We won by filing title deed cancellation cases regarding the properties deeded in the names of others by smuggling the goods. In the beginning, people who committed crimes took advantage of the statute of limitations in the long-lasting trial processes in the Turkish judicial system for years." "We prevented them from being acquitted by doing so. We fought for Jet Fadıl to receive a prison sentence of 2,504 years, and he is currently detained."

"THE STATE SHOULD EXPROPRIATE THIS PLACE"

Talip Metehanoğlu, one of the victims, stated that he lost all his savings due to his investment in the project and requested that the building be expropriated by the state. Metehanoğlu said, "No matter what was given, we did not settle any accounts with them. However, we want this place to be expropriated by the state. I lost everything here."
